From A Ghost; To A Ghost: an open letter

Dear Reader,

It’s Freedom Music Friday. Are you still down? Or have you become enslaved in some way since we last spoke?

Are you still enjoying your new found love, Xavier Rudd? Yeah, I thought so. He’s a gift from above.

Above the Storm, that is.

That brings me to my first offering for the week. Please hit play and find a groove to ride, it won’t be difficult.

Try your best to keep your head still enough to keep reading. I know Scott isn’t making it easy. Stick Figure’s music is transcendent of this world. Rising up above the storm of life, his melodies take me to a place of peace and joy. There is freedom here. I encourage you to do a deep dive with Stick Figure. You won’t regret it.

Yet, in life, sometimes the Storm catches up to us. Soaks us through, and weighs us down. Sometimes the clouds get so dark that we lose our way.

It’s ok, it happens to all of us at times. Especially if we step out and try something new, something difficult.

Sometimes the Storm rages. In those times we must look for a light in the darkness. This next song, I believe was written specifically for me, and I don’t care what anybody says on the matter. It’s mine.

I played this song on every playlist I listened to in ‘21 and ‘22, it got me through.

Dude, I needed that more than I have words for. That’s all I’ll say on this one. I hope you enjoy it even half as much as I still do today after hearing it upwards of a million times.

Now, before someone gets pissy, don’t worry, I will not write about the genre of reggae without paying my respects to one of my all time favorite artists and humans.

He IS freedom personified. When my wife and I first started dating I had a painting of Bob hung on my wall, right next to my framed picture of Tupac. I would not be here anymore had it not been for the those two men, I’m sure of that. So without further bloviating from me, get a tissue, sing along, and feel.

Be Redeemed my friends. You deserve it.
